Introduction

As a twenty year old college student, nothing excites me more than putting in my two cents on everything. I’m sure you have experienced people like me, and to be honest, I’m almost sure you were annoyed with us after one conversation. I know I would be annoyed as well.

So why in the world would I create a blog about my two cents, knowing that it annoys people?

Voice matters.

I will admit that I am no better than the person standing next to me. I am not some special snowflake looking for a safe space, and in fact think that we should be challenging those spaces with thoughts and clashing opinions (without getting too aggressive) through discussions.

I don’t get easily offended. I don’t want a medal for participation, and I don’t need to feel like the most important person in the world all the time. These are the unrealistic and for most of the people my age, untrue stereotypes that we are held to.

But I can also tell you that things are a lot harder than they used to be. Nothing is the same as it was 10 years ago. There have been so many advances in our society that what was three or four years ago feels like a few decades ago. And that’s a lot to deal with, especially just coming out of school and into the real world.

This isn’t just one person’s opinion. Millennials are tired. We are tired of being told that a college degree is necessary, only to be put into massive debt as though it’s a luxury. We are tired of people telling us that if we just scrimped and saved a little bit that we could own a house and a car and have these wonderful lives that our parents and grandparents had.

Money doesn’t go as far as it used to.

So why in the world would I create a blog about my two cents knowing it annoys people?

Maybe if we annoyed people enough, they can do something about it.
